About
Us
Together in Christ
(usually referred to locally as the ‘TiC’) is an ecumenical body,
representing partner churches in the areas near Guildford of: Burpham,
Merrow, East and West Clandon and Sutton Park. There are several
different denominations represented: Anglican, Roman Catholic,
Methodist and Baptist (the latter church community is now based in
central Guildford, but is represented).
Together in Christ
has a committee made of up of clergy and lay from the member churches.
It meets regularly in fellowship to pray together, share fellowship and
news of events in one another’s churches, and to plan joint activities.
These activities are for the whole of the community of the member
churches and for anyone else who wishes to participate.
Together in Christ
helps to share the Good News of Jesus Christ in the area.
We do this in three
ways:
Two or more churches
joining together to provide a service to the local community, such as
the Anglican, Methodist and Roman Catholic run Community Lunch Club
held weekly during term time on the Methodist premises.
Sharing information
about our individual activities and warmly inviting the whole
ecumenical community to join in.
Joining together in
organising activities such as lent groups and special services or
gatherings.
In addition to our
on-going projects we are committed to praying for one another during
the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, we are planning two major joint
activities during 2011.
The first of these
will be joint lent groups studying ‘NOT A TAME LION’: Lent with the
Works of C.S. Lewis by Hilary Brand. More information about this will
be publicised in the individual churches after Christmas 2010.
The second event will
be a Family Fun Afternoon for Pentecost (June 12th 2011).
This is to be held at
the Sutherland Memorial Park and more information will be found on the
churches’ individual websites after Easter.
If you would like to
be involved in the work of the committee why not contact the TiC
representative in your church or contact the current chairperson: Rev
Darlene McCarley at minister@merrowmethodistchurch.org.uk
